The Appalachian Trail Conservancy publishes the definitive guides to the entire Appalachian Trail, covering more than 2,100 miles in 11 guidebooks. All guides include detailed trail descriptions and information on road crossings, shelters, water sources, points of interest, and general advice on the territory. Each guide also includes separate water-resistant maps for the specific region.
The Maine guide covers 281 miles from the trail's starting (or ending) point at Mount Katahdin in Baxter State Park to the New Hampshire state line. The set includes a planning guide and seven, four-color topographic maps with elevation profiles.
