The Appalachian Trail Conservancy publishes the definitive guides to the entire Appalachian Trail, covering more than 2,100 miles in 11 guidebooks. All guides include detailed trail descriptions and information on road crossings, shelters, water sources, points of interest, and general advice on the region. Each guide also includes separate water-resistant maps for the specific region covered.
The Shenandoah National Park guide covers 107 miles of the Appalachian Trail and roughly 400 miles of popular side trails in the Virginia region between Front Royal and Waynesboro. The set includes three, five-color topographic maps.
