The Appalachian Trail Conservancy publishes the definitive guides to the entire Appalachian Trail, covering more than 2,100 miles in 11 guidebooks. All guides include detailed trail descriptions and information on road crossings, shelters, water sources, and points of interest, plus general advice on the area. Each guide also includes separate water-resistant maps for the specific region covered. The Tennessee-North Carolina guide covers 295 miles from Damascus, Va., to the southern end of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park at Fontana Dam, N.C. The set includes three, four-color topographical maps printed on two sheets and a five color topographic map of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park published by National Geographic Maps.
